Theme and Atmosphere
Chloé makes a strong first impression. The game opens with her perched on a Parisian rooftop at night, cigarette lit, a bag of stolen goods resting against her designer boots. It’s cinematic in a way that most slot intros aren’t. From there, the action shifts to a museum interior flanked by a standing sarcophagus on one side and a floating tiara on the other, setting the stage for high-culture theft.
NetEnt’s sound team deserves credit here. Following the energetic soundtrack work on What’s Up Witches, they’ve paired In And Out with a French ska track that somehow nails the tone: cool, unhurried, and just a little bit cocky. Visually, the symbol set reinforces the heist theme throughout, with low-pay icons covering burglary tools (gloves, torches, crowbars, grappling hooks) and high-pay symbols representing the loot itself (necklaces, jewels, rings, earrings, tiaras). Nothing feels generic or placeholder. The whole package gives off an achingly cool vibe that sits comfortably alongside Narcos Slot, another NetEnt title with a criminal edge, though In And Out trades gritty cartel energy for something far more stylish.
How Does In And Out Play?
In And Out is a scatter pays game on a dynamic 6x5 grid. Winning combinations form when 8 or more low-pay symbols or 6 or more high-pay symbols appear anywhere in view. No traditional paylines here.
In And Out Slot has an RTP of 96.08% on the highest setting. Some operators may offer reduced versions at 94.05% or 92.03%, so checking before you play is worthwhile. Volatility is rated high, and the betting range spans $/€0.20 to $/€80 per spin (the game data lists $/€40, but the Elevate buy options effectively push exposure higher).
In And Out’s maximum win is 12,086x your stake, though reaching it requires extraordinary luck: the probability sits at roughly 1 in 50 million spins.
The most valuable clusters are 12+ symbols in size, paying 1.5x to 1.75x for low pays and 3x to 5x for high pays. Wilds substitute for everything except scatters, Bombs, and Heist Mode symbols. For players exploring all slot reviews, the scatter pays format here creates a different rhythm than standard payline games, with wins feeling more gradual but potentially stacking up through the avalanche system.
How Does the Heist Mode Work?
This is where In And Out earns its keep. The game layers several interconnected mechanics, and understanding how they feed into Heist Mode is key to appreciating what NetEnt has built.
Avalanches kick in after every win. Winning symbols vanish and new ones drop in, but the vacated positions get highlighted in bronze. Subsequent wins on highlighted spots upgrade them through a tier system: bronze to silver, gold, then diamond. These tiers matter enormously once Heist Mode activates.
Expanding reels are triggered by Bomb symbols. When a Bomb lands, it explodes and removes adjacent symbols (except wilds, scatters, or Chloé symbols), triggering an avalanche. Bombs landing on grid edges expand the play area by adding a reel or row. Corner Bombs add both. The grid can grow from 6x5 to a maximum of 8x7 before resetting on the next spin.
Landing a Chloé symbol while highlighted positions exist triggers Heist Mode itself. This is essentially a hold-and-win feature where coins land on highlighted positions with values tied to their tier: 0.5x to 2x for bronze, 4x to 10x for silver, 15x to 30x for gold, and 50x to 1,000x for diamond. Several special symbols add depth during the mode:
- Multipliers (x2 to x10) land on bronze, silver, or gold positions and apply to all Coins, Diamonds, and Collectors at the end.
- Upgraders push adjacent positions (and their coins) up one tier and can pull unhighlighted spots into Heist Mode.
- Bursts upgrade a random number of unhighlighted positions to the Burst symbol’s tier, potentially expanding the grid further.
- Collectors gather the value of all Coins, Diamonds, and other Collectors while remaining in play. The collected symbols are removed.
- Extra Lives add one more Heist Mode spin before disappearing.
When Upgraders and Bursts land together, they trigger a combined blast effect that can also add Coins. There’s a lot happening, but the core loop is clear: build highlighted positions, trigger Heist Mode, and hope the right special symbols land to push values upward.
Compared to Gonzo’s Quest Slot, which pioneered avalanche mechanics in NetEnt’s catalogue, In And Out takes that foundation and bolts an entire secondary feature layer on top. The Le Bandit comparison is unavoidable (highlighted cells, special trigger symbols, instant prizes), but In And Out diverges meaningfully. There’s no guarantee a highlighted position will produce anything during Heist Mode, which creates a different tension. Where Le Bandit’s Golden Squares feel almost deterministic in their payout structure, Heist Mode’s set-spin format can swing wildly between dead rounds and massive payoffs.
Free Spins and Super Free Spins
Free spins trigger when three scatters (regular or super) land in the base game, awarding 5 spins. Each super scatter adds an extra spin on top. In And Out’s free spins frequency is roughly 1 in 275 spins, so patience is required.
The grid size and any highlighted positions from the base game carry over into the round, which is a smart design choice. They persist until consumed by a Heist Mode. During free spins, landing 1 or 2 additional scatters awards +1 or +2 extra spins respectively.
Super free spins start with the maximum grid size (8x7), giving Chloé the most room to work with. This is where the max win potential of 12,086x lives, with a fully expanded grid offering far more space for highlighting and heisting. Buying super free spins through the Elevate system costs 800x the bet, which is steep. For players who enjoy high-stakes bonus buys, Dead or Alive 3: Wanted Slot is another NetEnt title where the feature buy conversation gets interesting.
In And Out was released by NetEnt and features an Elevate buy system with five options, ranging from a 1.5x Bonus Hunt to an 800x Super Free Spins purchase.
What Are the Best Casinos for In And Out?
Finding the right place to play In And Out for real money starts with confirming the operator carries NetEnt’s catalogue and offers the full 96.08% RTP version. Browse casinos featuring NetEnt slots for a filtered list of verified options.
Beyond the game itself, look for welcome packages that include free spins bonuses, since these pair naturally with high-volatility slots where extending your session matters. Because In And Out supports bets from $/€0.20, most bonus wagering requirements will be manageable at lower stakes while you learn the mechanics.

Try In And Out Free Play
Before staking real money, loading the In And Out demo on this page is genuinely useful. The Heist Mode mechanic has enough moving parts (tier upgrades, Bursts, Collectors, Upgraders) that experiencing it firsthand clarifies how the pieces connect far better than reading about them. Free play also lets you test the Elevate feature buy options without financial risk, which matters when the super free spins buy sits at 800x. You can find more demo options across all available slots, or check upcoming slot releases if you like staying ahead of the curve.

Verdict and Key Takeaways
- Heist Mode is the centrepiece, and its tier-based coin system with Upgraders, Bursts, and Collectors creates genuine strategic anticipation during every activation.
- The Le Bandit influence is obvious, but NetEnt’s hold-and-win twist makes In And Out feel like its own game rather than a direct copy.
- High volatility with a 12,086x max win gives big-win chasers something to aim for, though the 1-in-50-million probability demands realistic expectations.
- Production quality is a genuine strength. The Parisian heist theme is executed with more personality than most crime-themed slots manage.
- The Elevate buy menu is well-structured, offering entry points from cautious (1.5x Bonus Hunt) to aggressive (800x Super Free Spins).

Summary
In summary, In And Out is a NetEnt slot played on a dynamic 6x5 grid (expandable to 8x7) using scatter pays. The RTP is 96.08% at the highest setting, with high volatility and a maximum win of 12,086x the stake. Its central feature is a tiered Heist Mode that functions as a hold-and-win mechanic, supported by avalanches, expanding reels, and five Elevate feature buy options. Released as part of NetEnt’s expanding portfolio, it draws clear inspiration from Hacksaw Gaming’s Le Bandit series but distinguishes itself through its spin-limited Heist Mode format and strong thematic execution.
The Parisian Job Is Worth Casing
In And Out won’t pretend to be something entirely original, but the heist it pulls on Hacksaw’s formula is executed with enough flair and mechanical twists to stand on its own merits. Load up the demo, get a feel for how the tiers stack, and if the Heist Mode clicks for you, Chloé might just be worth following into the museum for real. As always, set a budget before you play and treat any session as entertainment first.
